wedding reception photographs Riviera Hotel Palm Springs
The wedding reception is one of my favorite parts of the wedding day. By this time everyone has relaxed and is ready to have fun and it's a great chance for me to really be a "documentary" photographer. I get to just capture everyone having a great time! In this image two of the couples friends are being silly and having the best time as other guests look on. This was photographed in the Grand Ballroom at The Riviera Hotel in Palm Springs California Some fun history on the hotel, It was originally built in 1959 on 24 acres, Riviera Palm Springs' heyday was during the 60's when it was frequented by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin. It was modeled after a variety of Las Vegas hotels including the Stardust and The Sands. In the wood-paneled Arcade Lounge, Guatemalan coin art meticulously crafted into portraits of past patrons, including Cher and Phyllis Diller, covers the walls. A Liberace-inspired pool table encrusted with crystals, as well as retro-fab oversized leather chairs and lounges, are strategically situated to encourage conversation. Couples really enjoy using some of these retro elements in their wedding photographs as it really is a unique look and feel, found nowhere else in the Coachella Valley.Location: The Riviera, Palm Springs.
