Palm Springs Military Wedding Photographer

Misty and Rob are both officers in the Marine Corp. Stationed in at the 29 Palms marine base, they chose the area to get married also. Married at Le Haute Desert Aerie, a wedding venue just outside Pioneertown in California. We made so lovely portraits that truly captured their love for each other. Rob looking so handsome in his Marine uniform and Misty was gorgeous in her white gown and birdcage veil.

Pioneertown is a unique and historic desert community located in the high desert of Southern California, near Joshua Tree National Park. Here's an overview of Pioneertown:

  1. History: Pioneertown was founded in 1946 as a movie set and a living replica of an Old West frontier town. It was designed as a filming location for Western movies and TV shows of that era. The town was the brainchild of a group of Hollywood investors, including actors Roy Rogers and Gene Autry, who wanted an authentic Western setting for their productions.

  2. Western Movie Set: Pioneertown's main attraction is its Western movie set, which still stands today. The set features a Main Street lined with authentic Old West-style buildings, including a saloon, bank, jail, and shops. These structures were built for filming purposes but have been preserved and maintained, giving visitors a glimpse into the past.

  3. Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace: One of the most famous establishments in Pioneertown is Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace. Originally opened in the 1940s as a movie star hangout, it has since become a renowned music venue and restaurant. Pappy & Harriet's has hosted performances by numerous musicians and bands, attracting both locals and visitors from far and wide.

  4. Desert Scenery and Outdoor Activities: Pioneertown is situated in the Mojave Desert, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Visitors can explore the nearby Joshua Tree National Park, known for its unique Joshua trees, rock formations, and hiking trails. The area offers opportunities for camping, horseback riding, off-roading, and stargazing.

  5. Western Reenactments and Events: Pioneertown hosts regular Western-themed events and reenactments, allowing visitors to experience the spirit of the Old West. These events often feature gunfights, live music, Western-style entertainment, and activities that transport guests back in time.

  6. Unique Shopping and Dining: Pioneertown offers a range of eclectic shops and boutiques where visitors can find Western-themed merchandise, antiques, art, and handmade crafts. Additionally, the town features a few dining options beyond Pappy & Harriet's, including cafes and BBQ restaurants, offering a taste of the Old West with a modern twist.

  7. Local Community: While Pioneertown was originally created as a movie set, it has evolved into a small, close-knit community of residents who appreciate its rustic charm and desert lifestyle. The town attracts artists, musicians, and nature enthusiasts seeking a peaceful and inspiring environment.

Pioneertown is a unique destination that combines Hollywood history, Old West ambiance, and natural beauty. It offers a glimpse into the golden era of Western movies and provides visitors with a memorable experience in the desert landscape of Southern California.
